Your privacy and security are very important to the Domestic Violence Action Centre. We are committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988.

As a feminist organisation we are committed to working towards the elimination of domestic and family violence throughout the community.

If you utilise any of our services we may collect personal information from you. The kinds of personal information we collect and hold will depend upon the particular service you make use of, but generally includes some or all of the following:

  • Your contact details
  • Information that you provide during counselling sessions
  • Information about your children, your partner/husband/ex-partners, and any other personal details that may have an impact on your safety, including employment details.

We may also collect personal information about you from another service if you consent to us doing so, including the police, the Department of Child Safety and your previous counsellors.

All personal information we collect about you is securely stored and kept confidential within the service.
