Crisis Response

The Safety Team is here to help anyone experiencing Domestic and Family Violence. The Safety Team provides non-judgmental support which means we respect the client’s decision to stay or leave an abusive relationship.

The Safety Team’s main focus is on safety planning and determining the individual level of risk of the client’s current situation. The risk indicators are drawn from and informed by previous serious domestic and family violence incidents.

We aim to walk beside the client respecting that client’s need for autonomy and to be the decision makers of their own life. We will support the client by providing:

  • Information and Advice
  • Practical Support
  • Refuge Assistance
  • Referrals For: Accommodation, Emergency Relief & Counselling
  • Safety Planning
  • Risk Assessments
  • Practical Advice
  • Liaising with police if planning to leave
  • Assistance with completing Domestic Violence Applications
  • Legal Aid Referrals

Once the client has been triaged by the Safety Team they can be referred into other programs that are offered at the Domestic Violence Action Centre.
