Write a Revolution – “Fight Like a Girl” Poetry Slam
13 October @ 4:00 pm - 9:30 pmFree
The Domestic Violence Action Centre invites young people, aged 15–25, to join this brilliant opportunity to work with award winning and professional poet Anisa Nandaula and Sinéad Nunan, where you will workshop poetry writing & ‘slam’ performance, whilst exploring ideas about what it means to “Fight Like a Girl” in 2021.
Let’s challenge gender stereotypes and expectations, and promote positive, equal, and respectful relationships. Fight Like a Girl focuses on shifting and challenging the attitudes and beliefs that downplay, excuse, and minimise women’s experience of violence.
After the workshops, participants will battle it out on the stage, performing their own original pieces that were created during the workshops. Not to mention, you can win great prizes.
This is a free event for all young people, aged 15–25 years.
