Practice Forum: Change the Story
What to expect:
Domestic Violence Action Centre proudly presents our first Practice Forum for the year with the primary prevention themed approach ‘Change the Story’ which is an evidence-based framework to guide a coordinated and effective national approach to preventing violence against women and children.
This practice forum will unpack the four drivers of violence which shifts the focus from individual behaviours to consider the broader social, political, and economic factors that drive violence against women, and the social context of gender inequality in which this violence arises.
We will consider the important actions needed at all levels of society. This forum supports government and non-government support services to work together to ‘Change the Story’ within our local community.
The upcoming Ipswich Summit event in May focuses on responding and reducing the prevalence of DFV within the Ipswich local government area with Change the Story highlighting how a whole-of-setting approach can achieve powerful outcomes for lives impacted by domestic and family violence.
This Forum will be presented by a representative from DVAC and a representative from the Office for Women and Violence Prevention, Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
